UPDATE: Volunteers of America Three-Alarm Fire was Arson

Update: Officials at the Columbus Fire Division report that the fire appears to be intentional and are hunting down several suspects, according to the Columbus Dispatch. Investigators say that they noticed someone watching the building burn while firefighters fought to extinguish it, and that usually that is a sign of an arsonist. They also found molotov cocktails near on school grounds close to the storage facility.

12 engines were on the scene of a large fire at a West Broad Volunteers of America. The fire broke out Monday night and firefighters arrived at the scene after 10:30pm to battle the flames into the night.

The actual building itself did not catch fire but instead, the donation area where people dropped off donated goods, along with storage for donations like clothes and appliances did catch fire.

Because of some water issues, including the usage of private fire hydrants, they had to utilize Broad Street hydrants to battle the fire. There was also some concern that due to the heat of the fire the steel beams in the largest building had been compromised.

There are no reported injuries as the cause of the fire goes under investigation.
