Judy Malinowski dies nearly two years after horrific attack

Judy Malinowski has died. Judy, 33, was a mother from Gahanna who was doused with gasoline and set on fire by her ex-boyfriend two years ago. She underwent 59 surgeries in those two years but succumbed to her injuries today.

Her death comes as the bill named in her honor moves another step closer to becoming a law. It was voted out of committee today and will be debating by the House tomorrow. This law will extend sentences in cases where an accelerant like gasoline is used.

Judy’s ex-boyfriend, Michael Slager, was sentenced to 10 years for the attack. Franklin County Prosecutor, Ron O’Brien, is taking steps to pursue aggravated murder charges against Slager.

Judy’s funeral will be open to the public. More details on this as it develops.
