Keep your cotton candy close and your sanitizer closer at Ohio State Fair
If you plan to patronize the Ohio State Fair at any point between tomorrow, July 26 and August 6, keep your hand sanitizer at the ready.
With the incident at the Franklin County Fair last week and the 300 pigs called to slaughter at the Clinton County Fair earlier this month, state fair officials are bracing themselves for the potential of swine flu.
Livestock exhibitors have been instructed to pay extra close attention to their animals so that any influenza symptoms are detected prior to bringing them to the fairgrounds.
Any sick animal will be quarantined and disqualified from competition.
Though fair livestock safety teams will be keeping close watch on the hog barn, visitors are not advised to take any food, drinks, or strollers into the animal barns.
In other news, keep an eye on the Ohio State Fair Facebook page today for the famous butter sculpture unveiling.
