Approved: North Market lot to become skyscraper
The North Market parking lot is toast. The new slice of bread will take the form of a 35-story, mixed-use skyscraper. In this skyscraper, you can live, work, and play. There will be 40,000 square feet of Commercial Office Space, around 200 residential units, 28,000 square feet of retail space, 25,350 square feet of restaurants. Oh, and we mustn’t forget parking; there will be several hundreds underground spots available for both skyscraper and market visitors.
As far as the North Market goes, it will be preserved and improved. There will be added square footage to the existing space and a better storage bay. Instead of the dingy, gum-splatter, cement patio, North Market goers will have new outdoor seating options courtesy of a new public outdoor plaza and a public two-story grand atrium.
This development proposal was created by Wood Companies/Schiff Capital who will invest a whopping $100 million. That’s going to be one helluva atrium…
