OSU knife attacker left behind note to family, called them “moderate” Muslims

New information has come to light regarding the man who carried out a car-and-knife attack at Ohio State University last year. Records show that Somalia-born Abdul Razak Ali Artan left behind a torn-up note to his family, urging them to stop being “moderate” Muslims. He added that he would intercede for his parents on judgement day.

The note went on to express Artan’s disdain for the fact that fellow Muslims were being oppressed in Myanmar.

The Associated Press obtained the note through a records request and investigators reassembled it.

In November, Artan drove a vehicle into a crowd of people on campus and proceeded to attack them with a knife. Eleven people were injured before Artan was shot and killed by police. The attack is believed to have been inspired by ISIS propaganda.
