It is Carrie Rausch’s birthday today. Who is Carrie Rausch? Well, Carrie Rausch is an adorable woman living at a senior center in Upper Arlington and today she turned 108 years old.
108.
One-hundred and eight.
What was taking place 108 years ago, in the year 1909 — today? Well…nothing of note, so we’re just going to look at the whole year:
- January 28 – The last United States troops leave Cuba after being there since the Spanish–American War of 1898.
- March 4 – William Howard Taft is sworn in as President of the United States.
- The Ottoman Empire was still around.
- The United States Senate entered the automotive age with the inauguration of transportation by electric cars, running underground through a tunnel between the new Senate Office Building and the United States Capitol.
- There were only 46 stars on the US Flag.
- Mar 31 Gustav Mahler conducts NY Philharmonic for his 1st time
- Apr 6 North Pole reached by Americans Robert Peary & Matthew Henson
- Carrie Rausch was born.
