Shootout at east Columbus market leaves customer wounded
An early morning gunfight began this Sunday after a store clerk refused to sell a can of beer after 2 a.m. The suspect then later returned to the Livingston Market on Livingston Avenue and opened fire indiscriminately at the market, wounding one customer in the shoulder.
The clerk then returned fire, scaring off the assailants. The clerk, Sakher Alkhreisha, told ABC 6 he didn’t want to kill the shooter. “I am not shooting to kill him. I wanted to scare him,” he said.
The customer was transported to Grant Medical Center with no life-threatening injuries. It is unknown if the assailants were injured in the shootout.
Police are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call the Columbus Police Assault Unit (614) 645-4141. Tipsters can also remain anonymous by contacting Central Ohio Crime stoppers at (614) 461-8477.
