A headless Confederate statue is now overlooking the 2,000+ tombstones at Camp Chase Cemetery in west Columbus.
Vandals crept into the resting place, knocked the statue to the ground, and took off with its head, reports 10tv.
Police are investigating the incident.
Here’s what Mayor Ginther said in regards to the debate of Confederate statues:
“I support the removal of monuments celebrating the Confederacy, but I would urge people to remember that the disturbing and tragic events that unfolded in Charlottesville were not about statues, but about persistent racism in our country. “
