Parallel Connections: A Wide-Ranging Celebration of Modern Dance

There is quite a treat in store for Columbus audiences this October that will rival any…OK, almost any…of the sugary morsels from the spoils of your kids’ trick or treat bags. When three major local arts organizations with a long and strong history of commitment to dance get together to celebrate, you know it will be a modern feast for all the senses. BalletMet and The Ohio State University Department of Dance, in association with the Wexner Center for the Arts, collaborate for two nights only in a ground-breaking production that encompasses a wide spectrum of contemporary dance poetry styles and influences – with nods to iconic choreographer Merce Cunningham as well as country music legend Johnny Cash.

The relationship between BalletMet and The Ohio State University’s Department of Dance has always been a fruitful and rewarding one, and we are again delighted to join forces for another production, this time in collaboration with the Wexner Center for the Arts,” said BalletMet Artistic Director Edwaard Liang. “With these three organizations, we’re bound to have an evening of sophistication and fun, and we think it represents a good cross-section of contemporary dance in 2017. This is what Columbus arts are all about: creating more together and inspiring our community.”

Parallel Connections will be presented on Friday, Oct. 20 at 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 21 at 8:00 p.m. at the Mershon Auditorium, 1871 N. High Street on The Ohio State University Campus.
