Yoga Joins Juice, Pastries, Fancy Nails & Pretty Plants in German Village

Yoga Joins Juice, Pastries, Fancy Nails & Pretty Plants in German Village

Balanced Yoga joins popular local shops Fox In The Snow, Native Cold-Pressed, The W Nail Bar and STUMP in bringing a second location to the bustling corner of Thurman Avenue and Jaeger Street in German Village.

Balanced Yoga owner Leah Westwater signed a lease at 210 Thurman Ave, the historic building that once housed Thurmania movie theater.

Balanced Yoga shares the building with the newest Fox In The Snow Cafe location. The yoga studio will fill approximately 2,000 square feet in the 1920s theater space while the former theater lobby will transform into the coffee and bakery hangout.

“German Village has a wonderfully unique vibe—both historic and urban—and we are so excited to join the neighborhood,” says Westwater. “To be honest, a second location wasn’t on our radar until the building and the neighboring businesses made it an easy decision. We look forward to contributing to an already thriving community.”

Balanced Yoga’s German Village studio aims to open in spring of 2017 with a yoga class schedule crafted with downtown living in mind.

“Picture this: exposed brick, a restored fireplace, show-stopping light fixtures, beautiful hardwood floors — a place to connect with yourself and others. Very warm and inviting, yet edgy and industrial,” says Tessa DuPont, studio manager and director of marketing.

Westwater purchased the longstanding Clintonville yoga studio at 3520 N. High St. in May 2015 and began rebranding the business and revitalizing the space not long after.

“We’re here because yoga has the capacity to change lives, and we operate from that truth in everything from our values to our schedule,” says Westwater’s partner, Nicole Klasa. “From our management team to staff and yoga instructors, we strive to give the city gathering spaces full of heart. We are an extremely inspired group passionate about serving Columbus.”

The second location will share in hosting Balanced mainstays, including its biannual yoga teacher training program, yoga and live music events, masterclasses with local and national instructors, and donation-based classes to benefit Balanced Yoga’s GIVE Yoga Fund, among other nonprofit outreach.
