Cop pays women cash + soda for sex, gets slap on wrist

A Columbus police officer is getting a mere ding on his record after pleading guilty to engaging in prostitution in his cruiser.

Officer Randy Mayhew, 46, a 17-year veteran of the Division of Police, was sentenced to two years of probation, 30 hours of community service, and a $150 fine for charges of three counts prostitution, three counts solicitation, and one count dereliction of duty. The judge tacked on 90 days in jail but immediately suspended that notion, reports The Dispatch.

The allegations go all the way back to 2015 including a report of Mayhew soliciting oral sex from a woman while he was on duty.

Another woman claims she had unprotected sex with him three or four times in his cruiser in exchange for some cash, cigarettes, and Mountain Dew. This same woman was arrested by another officer and then confessed she new some info about a “dirty” cop, reports The Dispatch.

That’s when the investigation of Mayhew originated. He previously patrolled west Columbus.
