Chocolate, roses, expensive dinners: it’s all been done. Instead of sticking to tradition this Valentine’s Day, make it memorable and check out some of the more unexpected options for romance that Columbus has to offer.

  • Valentine’s Day at White Castle – Seriously, this is a thing. From 4-9 pm on the 14th, the Columbus-based fast food chain will transform itself into the “Love Castle,” complete with hostess seating, servers and themed decorations. If you’ve always dreamed of eating sliders by candlelight, White Castle will turn your fantasy into reality. Also, you’re not alone: due to popularity, reservations are required.

  • If tiny hamburgers don’t do it for you, Shadowbox Live is presenting Body Heat, a “sex, love and relationship-themed show,” on Friday and Saturday. The Valentine’s package includes admission, treats, and mini-champagne.

  • Feeling adventurous? Visit JP’s BBQ Ribs and Chicken for their Valentine Party and Airplane Ride. For $179 (not including tax), you’ll get dinner and dancing for two on Valentine’s Day, plus reservations for an airplane ride around downtown Columbus at a later date, when the weather is less of a bummer.

  • Missed out on plans for the 14th? Axis has you covered. On Saturday, February 18th, Axis is throwing their 18th Annual Hearts Party, hosted by the legendary Nina West and Virginia West. The Hearts Party will have a DJ, plenty of dancing and “the best drag cabaret in the city.”\

  • And finally don’t forget Singles Mingle/Drink for a Cause at Hadley’s Bar + Kitchen (that’s the one 614 sponsoring) Each ticket gets you: Your choice of 2 adult beverages (excluding ice cream drinks)— Sampler Board including: Mac & Cheese, Slider and a Dessert from Hadley’s top secret, coming soon dessert menu and a charitable donation: a portion of each ticket purchased will be donated to the American Heart Association.
