Apple has chosen Columbus State Community College as one of one of only six community colleges to receive a free app development course. It’s called App Development with Swift (Apple’s popular and easy-to-use programming language).

The year-long course will be available for free on Apple’s iBooks store for CSCC students. Swift will teach them how to design fully-functioning apps while gaining skills in software development and information technology.
“Community colleges play a critical role in helping students achieve their dreams, and we hope these courses will open doors for people of all ages and backgrounds to pursue what they love,” CEO Tim Cook said.
The other community colleges to receive the free app development course are:
- Alabama Community College System
- Harrisburg Area Community College
- Houston Community College
- Mesa Community College
- San Mateo Community College District
It will also be available in some high schools.
