Columbus IKEA Host to Largest Solar Rooftop in Ohio

The highly anticipated IKEA store opening in Columbus this summer is now complete with the largest rooftop solar system in Ohio. The system on top of the Cincinnati location is the same size but we say the tie goes to CBUS.

This gargantuan solar array spans 213,000 square foot and produce approximately 1,447,700 kWh of electricity annually for the store. In normal people terms, power from these solar panels is equivalent to the emissions of 215 cars or electricity for 150 homes yearly.

“Completing the solar installation is another exciting and sustainable step in the progress towards opening the future IKEA Columbus,” said David Garcia, store manager. “IKEA strives to create a sustainable life for communities where we operate, and IKEA Columbus is adding to this goal with one of Ohio’s largest rooftop solar arrays.”
