Grant + Fourth St walking bridge no longer welcomes feet
The pedestrian bridge between Grant and Fourth St. will close tomorrow for safety reasons. This is a ripple effect from the I-70/71 corridor commotion.
ODOT deemed the construction zone on Fulton Ave too unsafe for people to be meandering on it. The demolition of the walking bridge has been part of the plan since last month but it finally came time to hit the kill switch today.
The first of five projects to improve the I-70/71 corridor is now underway– the goal of this one being to build a wider bridge at Grant Ave. as well as improve Mound and Fulton.
People on foot can use Grant Ave to travel. Once that closes in January, pedestrians can use the Fourth St. Bridge.
Here is ODOT’s traffic lowdown for the rest of the week as reported by NBC4i.
