Cops: Ikea opening may FJÄLLBO your commute next month
Ten thousand to 15,000 people are expected to show up to the grand opening of Ikea on the northeastern corner of I-71. And you know the worst part about people? All the traffic they create.
Police are preparing to close exits on I-71 if the expressway gets too backed up. Specifically, if northbound traffic on I-71 backs up to I-270, police will close the exits to Polaris Pkwy. and Gemini. Traffic will be redirected to the next exit north, being 36/37 to Delaware of Sunbury.
The grand opening of the new Ikea is June 7 which is a Wednesday. If you take I-71 north to work, we advise you either find an alternative route or just quit your job to avoid the mess.
