Local to be kicking her legs to the heavens with the Rockettes
At one point or another, most girls had their sights set on becoming a ballerina. Or, their dream may have shifted the moment they saw the Rockettes kicking their long legs up to space for the love of Christmas. Unfortunately, not every female is cut out to pirouette in a feathery leotard in front of thousands of people. But Nadia Kolda of Westerville is.
Kolda was one of those girls who dreamt of becoming a dancer; She didn’t even let seven failed attempts stop her. Finally, though, she achieved her dream. Kolda was one of only three hired on to the Rockettes this year.
To become a New York City Rockette, you must be:
- between 5’6″ and 5’10 ½” tall (measurements will be taken in stocking feet)
- proficient in ballet, tap, and jazz
