OSU wants to raise tuition then lock in price for 4 years

Ohio State University wants to jacked up tuition a tad for freshman coming in to the 2017-18 school year but then guarantee to lock that price in for four years. Since the 2012-13 school year, tuition for in-state students has been $10,037. If OSU’s proposal is agreed upon, incoming freshman will pay $10,591. Sophomores and other upperclassmen will continue paying $10,037.

The only way tuition could rise for incoming freshman would be in proportion with inflation or if the General Assembly raised the tuition cap and the university chose to exceed it.

Ohio University, Miami University and the University of Dayton all have similar tuition plans.

 

Buckeye officials foresee Ohio State being the seventh-most affordable in the Big Ten this year.

This matter will be talked about at the OSU board of trustees meeting on Tuesday.
