Probably the last person anyone would call upon or trust in an emergency situation is a teenager. But 16-year-old Joey Boschert of Upper Arlington is making her demographic look pretty damn good. Last Friday, she saved her neighbor’s house from incineration.
Birds had nested near a loose security light on Boschert’s neighbor’s house. The birds jimmied the bulb until the light twisted in, causing the light to turn on and catch fire. The back door and part of the deck were engulfed in flames when Boschert jumped the fence with a fire extinguisher to save the day.
Boschert’s neighbor rewarded her bravery with a gift card and The Upper Arlington Division of Fire is planning some sort of recognition for her heroic efforts.
