1,000 Central Ohio Children Dance in Momentum’s “We Are Stars”
You probably remember taking weekly dance classes as a child. But what about when you got the opportunity to take a professional stage during the school day and performing with hundreds of your peers across the city?
While you may have missed your chance to shine on stage, every year there are 1,000 central Ohio children from Columbus City, Hilliard City, and Charter Schools who get this chance through Momentum.
Monica Kridler, Momentum’s founder and artistic director, is producing this year’s 15th anniversary performances, “We Are Stars.”
Performed by Momentum dancers in the year-long in-school program, the show follows “Little Comet” on her journey through our big universe, trying to find her place where she fits in—a relatable story for children and adults alike.
Momentum goes above and beyond teaching dance steps and putting on a show—it’s an educational nonprofit that uses dance, music, and performance to instill life skills in children during the school day.
In each classroom, Momentum integrates academics (this year’s theme focuses on science-based learning), develops healthy habits, and teaches that teamwork and excellence will lead to success.
We hope you will join us in cheering on Columbus’ children on Wednesday, May 9 and Friday, May 11, 2018, at 10:30am or 1:00pm at the Davidson Theatre.
Tickets are free, general admission, and are only available 30 minutes before each showtime at the Davidson Theatre. More information: momentum-excellence.org or [email protected]
