Will the Blue Jackets Light Up Calgary for Another Winning Streak?

An emphatic 7-3 win against the Edmonton Oilers on the road earlier this week was arguably the best response for the Columbus Blue Jackets following a 2-1 loss to St. Louis that snapped its eye-opening 10-game winning streak. This game featured seven unanswered goals by the CBJ. It may be safe to say Edmonton hated the fact Columbus lost to St. Louis more than the Blue Jackets.

Hanging onto a Wild Card spot and fourth place in the competitive Metro Divisionโ€”just one-point shy from being in a three-way tie for second place in the division by pointsโ€”the CBJ find themselves in a true make-or-break situation. Depending on how the final five games of the regular season go, the Blue Jackets could earn home ice for the playoffs or, potentially, miss the playoffs completely.

The Columbus Blue Jackets (91 points) will remain in Canada to play the Calgary Flames (80 points) tonight at Scotiabank Saddledome at 9 p.m. on Fox Sports Ohio.

Will Vancouver Cap the Commanding Crew?

Currently tied for most points in the league with Eastern Conference foe New York City FC (10 points), Columbus Crew SC are one of the hottest teams in the league in the early part of the 2018 MLS season. With all of the blatant and subtle acts of sabotage coming from scumbag Crew SC owner Anthony Precourt off the pitch, the Black & Goldโ€™s start is particularly impressive. And the return of defensive midfielder #6 Wil Trapp and goalie #23 Zack Steffen from the USMNT will be welcomed as the Crew face a tough, yet vulnerable opponent from the Western Conference. Columbus will be looking to extend its unbeaten streak to five this weekend.

Columbus Crew SC (10 points) hosts Vancouver Whitecaps FC (7 points) this Saturday at MAPFRE Stadium at 3 p.m. on WSYX ABC 6 and Spectrum Sports.
