New hotel rising across the street from North Market

Construction on an eight-story hotel near the North Market got the green light from the Downtown Commission.

The new 160-room AC Hotel by Marriott will be located at 511 Park St., diagonal from North Market.

Originally, this hotel was supposed to be built on top of the buildings already there but plans got rearranged, reports Columbus Business First.

You may have already noticed some construction going on in the area—that is part of the initial demolition of the five existing buildings on the site.

This will be the second AC Hotel in the central Ohio area with the first already open in Dublin’s Bridge Park.

Chris Meyers of Meyers + Associates Architecture are handling the project.
