Lewis Center will be feeling even Chiller next winter

It’s hard to believe Ohio would be in high demand for ice seeing as the entire city is covered in it as we type, but according to Chiller Ice Rinks, we are and they’re going to give it to us.

The OhioHealth Chiller Ice Rinks and JMAC, Inc., parent company of the Chillers and National Hockey League’s Columbus Blue Jackets, announced today they’d be adding a third rink at The Chiller North in Lewis Center that will bring the total size of the facility to 30,000 square feet. It’ll cost them 5 million smackers.

The sheet will meet National Hockey League regulations—200 x 85 feet—and have four public locker rooms with shower facilities, as well as two larger private locker rooms for high school or travel hockey teams.

“As youth and amateur hockey and skating programs continue to grow in Columbus, the timing is right for us to add to our nine existing ice sheets,” said Wendy Herb, President and General Manager of the OhioHealth Chillers. “Our team is focused on providing the resources and opportunities for area youth and adults to participate in ice sports and recreation, and this additional rink will certainly help us do that.”

They hope to have the new rink opened by December 2018.
