Palace Theatre closing its gates for some self-care
Beginning now, the gates of the Palace Theatre will be closing for six months while it takes a little “me” time.
As part of an ongoing $6.5 million renovation, the six-month main-hall makeover will include:
- Repair of damaged plaster
- New paint in a new color scheme
- All-new seats on the first floor
- Fully refurbished seats in the balcony
The last time the Palace’s paint job was given some TLC was in 1984. As such, it will be updated in a way that pays homage to the theatre’s rich history and gives the aesthetic a breath of fresh air.

Though it will reduce the capacity from 2,837 to 2,691, updates to the seating in both the balcony and first floor will allow for more a more contemporary and comfortable viewing experience.
These renovations will compliment the 2017 updates which included the installation of a high-efficiency heating system and a new roof.
Moving forward, the Palace Theatre is slated for additional renovations to the mezzanine-level lobby spaces and replacement of the front entry doors.
According to a release, CAPA is currently fundraising to secure the remaining capital needed to fund this stage of the facelift.
