WTH is smart technology? Find out at learning center opening soon

A smart initiative education center is coming to Columbus this summer. The $1 million facility is intended to “engage residents and teach them about how the city is innovating” according to a press release from Smart Columbus.

State of the art interactive exhibits, smart car test drives, and a technology showroom are just a few of the main events the education center will bring.

“We’ll show how new shared mobility options, as well as connected, autonomous, shared and electric vehicles, will make Columbus a more vibrant, more connected community. It will serve as a space where we can innovate and learn from each other and provide a platform for planning a future of shared mobility and prosperity,” said Columbus Mayor Andrew J. Ginther in a statement, per Smart Cities Dive.

Columbus’ Paul G. Allen Philanthropies grant (which accompanied the $40 million Smart Cities grant) will cover the bill.

The education center  will help to propel Columbus as a smart city. This comes after several technological advances the city has made within the past year including smart car fleets, IT hub brining over 200 jobs and being reported nationally as a tech city to watch.

The tech industry is becoming something to watch in central Ohio.
