Inaugural charity event to feed hungry kids this summer
In Ohio, 25.2 percent of children under 18 years old live in households that experience limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate and safe foods at some point during the year.
That is why The LunchBox Ohio exists.
Since 2015, The LunchBox Ohio has been dedicated to making sure local kids have access to food all year round, especially during the summer months when they don’t benefit from free or discounted lunches at their schools. Last summer, the nonprofit was able to feed almost 900 kids out of one location in Franklinton. This year, they’re doing it up bigger with four locations. But in order to do so, they need to fatten up their bank account.
That is why Bids & Brews exists.
This inaugural charity event will raise money for food insecurity for hungry kids and also offer guests a jolly good time with beers flowing from Land-Grant and food rolling out from Walrus, Old Towne Tavern, Pecan Pennies, Duck Donuts, as well as many others. Items from local businesses will also be up for auction.
“Every single penny we raise goes towards meals for these hungry kids in our community this coming summer,” wrote Katie Holmes of LunchBox
The fundraiser is taking place Friday, April 20 from 6:30- 11pm at the Idea Foundry in Franklinton.
