Fire took Planks Bier Garten down but not out, reopening this weekend

A staple of the German Village booze and pizza culture is slated to make its long-awaited return this weekend.

For nearly 60 years, Planks Bier Garten at 888 S. High St. has been slinging cold pints and piping hot pizzas but a fire threw a wrench in their operation about a year and a half ago.

Luckily, the smoke has long cleared and come Sunday, June 17, Planks will be ready to serve the booze and pizza hounds of Columbus.

“Thank you all for your patience and support throughout this process,” Planks wrote on Facebook. “We CANNOT wait to see you Sunday!”

The reopening will happen between noon and 10pm on Sunday with the kitchen closing at 9pm.

The Plank family also owns Plank’s Cafe at 743 Parsons Ave and another restaurant in Grove City.
