Food Truck Nation rolls out 15th ranking to Columbus
Food Truck Nation, a project of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, took a rather intensive peek into the country’s food truck scene and believes Columbus’ is the 15th easiest to break into.
Now, these rankings aren’t necessarily gauging quality or variety of food trucks in 20 of the biggest cities in the U.S. but rather, it’s investigating roadblocks food truck operators face when getting their businesses up and running.
Less restrictions = openness to food trucks = openness to entrepreneurship
Food Truck Nation looked at three different areas:
- Obtaining permits and licenses
- Complying with restrictions
- Operating a food truck
In the former category, Columbus was ranked 16th with food truck operators paying $1,560 in fees. We were also ranked 16th in the middle category but floated to 4th place in the latter category.
“Columbus’ middle-of-the-road approach to regulations appears to be working for the city’s food trucks,” writes Food Truck Nation.
Whether you’re an operator or a customer, what do you think of Columbus’ food truck scene?
