“We cannot let the pressure up,” Kasich weighs in on North Korea

On the eve of the meeting between President Donald Trump and North Korea leader Kim Jong Un, Governor Kasich made a statement on Face the Nation warning that he is “very, very concerned” and that we must be “extremely careful.”

Gov. Kasich emphasized the importance of keeping the pressure on North Korea.

“If you let the pressure up, I am very, very fearful that we will just find ourselves in this same situation or worse situation down the road,” he said. “Promises don’t matter. To me, it has to be a verifiable agreement.”

He went on to say he’s glad the meeting is happening but anything other than keeping the pressure and getting verifiable results “will weaken our position and strengthen them.”

President Donald J. Trump and Kim Jong Un will meet tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m.  Following the initial greeting, President Trump and Chairman Kim will participate in a one-on-one meeting (translators only) and a working lunch.
