An Ohio State mechanical and aerospace engineering student who just couldn’t hack a class during spring semester hacked into the university’s digital grade book and fudged the letters.

The Lantern reports the student was expelled after using a keylogger, a type of surveillance technology used to snatch keystrokes on a computer, to tap into professors’ Carmen accounts.

The associate chair for undergraduate programs sent an email to all mechanical engineer and aerospace engineering students warning them to, “Take a minute to consider the consequences of leaving OSU with a felony conviction rather than a degree,” reports The Lantern.

Announced today, OSU will implement a two-factor authentication service for access to Carmen which will help prevent hacking.
