Columbus Humane will work with avian rescue groups to place the majority of the remaining birds.

“Overall, we are pleased with the resolution of this case,” said CEO Rachel Finney. “We knew a population of birds was likely to be returned to the owner and we are grateful that we’ll be able to conduct inspections to ensure proper care for the birds throughout the probation period.”

On August 14, 2018, Columbus Humane, with the assistance of the ASPCA and local authorities, recovered 617 exotic birds from Stieve’s home after reports of severe neglect by a concerned citizen.
