Babysitter bucks: Local librarian finds $1k inside book

You open a library book and $1,000 cash spills out onto the floor. What do you do?

One local library knew exactly what she should do when this very thing happened to her.

Emily McPherson was checking back in books the Columbus Metropolitan Library Karl Road Branch when she came across a copy of The Babysitter’s Club.

She opened it up to check the condition of the returned book when nine $100 bills and five $20 bills fell out.

McPherson told NBC4i she thought it was Monopoly money at first, but it was cold, hard cash.

Upon doing a little research, she was able to contact the woman who last checked out the book.

Evidently, the family’s grandmother accidentally put the money inside the book.

The $1,000 was returned to its rightful owners.

Oddly enough, this was not the only bizarre discovery librarians have found inside books.

McPherson said she found a wig wedged between some pages last week and has also found salami and bacon bookmarks.

Reading does have a tendency to make you hungry..
