Blonde babe is first of his kind at Franklin County Sheriff’s Office
What has four legs, a blonde coat, and is an official, trained member of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office? Mattis K. Nine!
One-year-old English cream golden retriever is the first of two therapy dogs deployed by Franklin County. His handler and roommate is 7-year sheriff’s deputy veteran Darrah Metz. They’re practically attached at the hip.
Mattis joined the force 10 months ago when he was just a puppy.
This working dog earns his living bringing calm and comfort to people in traumatic situations, reports This Week News. Mattis also works in schools with a drug education program.
When he’s off-duty, you can find Mattis palling around Hilliard with Metz.
A generous donation of $10,000 made his adoption from Borador Labrador Retrievers of Powell possible.
