Hilliard residents rescue parkland from development

Hilliard City Council’s plan to develop a portion of Cross Creek Park totally backfired when dozens and dozens of residents came to its rescue.

City Council had suggested to rezone part of the park at 3342 Hilliard-Rome Road to make commercial development of medical offices possible but in October, they’re expected to rescind that suggestions.

This Week News reports many residents paid a visit to City Council to present their emotional appeals while as many as 60 others expressed their opposition via email.

Councilman Tom Baker agrees with the decision to revoke because of traffic and congestion concerns and its close proximity to Crossing Elementary School.

The motion will be reintroduced at October 22’s City Council meeting with a notation for it to be withdrawn, reports This Week News.
