Lawsuit brings safety of electric scooters into question

Could an LA lawsuit change the way scooter sharing operates in Columbus?

The class-action lawsuit is going after both Bird and Lime scooters for “gross negligence” and “aiding and abetting assault” by contributing to injuries sustained from collisions with the scooters, reports Columbus Business First.

Bird and Lime are also being accused of providing inadequate safety instructions.

Plaintiffs (eight in total including three who claim to be victims of the scooters’ menacing) say the companies should have known the scooters would be a dangerous “public nuisance” but by overlooking this, they contributed to scooter-induced assaults on pedestrians.

The lawsuit seeks damages for the plaintiffs as well as and that Bird and Lime improve their safety warnings and instructions.

Do you feel scooter safety instructions could be improved? If so, how?
