OH Senators penpalling with Amazon, “urge” HQ2 selection of Columbus
Like any good state congressional delegation would do, Ohio’s is really bragging up Columbus to Amazon’s executives, “urging” them to select Columbus for the location of their second headquarters.
ABC6 reports both Ohio senators and all 15 representatives wrote a letter to Amazon CEO Jeffrey Bezos, boasting all of the city’s shining attributes including:
- Central Ohio’s reputation for research and development
- Its position in the national transportation grid
- Its status as a high-technology Smart City
- Its higher education opportunities, including at Ohio State University
- Its workforce
“We are fully committed to facilitating job growth in the State and pleased to offer our support to this important project,” wrote the delegation. “This potential multi-billion-dollar investment, which could lead to 50,000 direct employment jobs, will have a significant economic impact for Ohio.”
The letter closes with an invitation for Bezos to meet with the senators and congress members at his earliest convenience.
