Poll: Should Urban stay or go? + Twitter reactions to abuse allegations
The dust is still very much flying after Brett McMurphy’s report was released yesterday suggesting Urban Meyer may have known more about Zach Smith’s abuse of his wife Courtney than he let on.
Urban Meyer has since been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.
No conclusions have been reached yet but the speculations are swirling all over the internet.
Here are a few Twitter reactions:
If your first reaction to reading this Brett McMurphy report is to celebrate because you dislike Urban or Ohio State…stop.
This is bigger than sports. A woman was abused for years & powerful men allegedly covered it up to benefit themselves.
No one is winning here.

“Domestic violence is not a troubled marriage. It’s not some sort of marital issue that can be solved by counseling. It’s a crime.” @LauraMRutledge emphasizes Urban Meyer’s future is less important than the domestic violence Courtney Smith dealt with. pic.twitter.com/I3RXqZjXWP

“I don’t have any inside information that would make this absolute fact, but my immediate reaction when I hear he’s been placed on administrative leave is that they’re negotiating the details of separation.”

My take on #UrbanMeyer issue from a practical standpoint. This is an issue btw Zach and Courtney that will play out in court. If Courtney didn’t report anything directly to Urban, how is he supposed to report on it to the university. Saying “you believe he knew” doesn’t cut it.

Good morning to everyone except Ohio State fans still supporting Urban Meyer covering up domestic abuse.

#OhioState should Fire Urban Meyer immediately and send him to College Football Purgatory – #CFB #UrbanMeyer #Sports https://t.co/1wfLHHGbbQ

I truly feel for Courtney Smith and all that POS Zach Smith has put her through, but why is she bringing down Shelley (a friend) and Urban Meyer (who has provided for their family for 9+ years)? Press charges on your husband, don’t go on a vindictive media tour to take down OSU.

The conversation will revolve around Urban Meyer, but my first thought is the courage Courtney Smith exhibited in bringing this forward when she was reportedly threatened by Zach Smith and pressured by those close to Meyer not to bring forth charges.

Zach Smith is rocking a “Not Me” hashtag on his Twitter right now. Spitting in the face of #MeToo victims. Just let that sink in a moment.

“It does not look good for Urban Meyer & Ohio State, especially in the wake of last week saying ‘I just found out about it last night.’”@BruceFeldmanCFB on reports that Urban Meyer knew about Zach Smith’s 2015 domestic violence incidents (via @TheHerd) pic.twitter.com/icTHOJ7Wei

It’s problematic if he knew. It’s also problematic if he didn’t.
My column on Urban Meyer and the need to hold him accountable for his (mis)handling of the allegations against Zach Smith: https://t.co/0eVZ4iex7Q

Urban Meyer should just pack his bags and move out to the country and become Rural Meyer.

If Ohio State University fires Urban Meyer over this they’re absolute and utter idiots. This man is one of the best college coaches of all time, and he is not the police. Let him coach football and leave him alone.
