Second try’s a charm? New car-sharing service pulling in
Car2go couldn’t make a go of the Columbus market but maybe this new car-sharing service will?
Zipcar will be pulling into the city next week with its mission to “enable simple and responsible urban living.”
Rather than pigeon-holing themselves to just one type of car (coughcoughSmartCarscough), Zipcar will offer a wider variety of options from sedans to Jeeps.
Customers can reserve a vehicle for as short as an hour or as long as a day. Packages for casual users as well as monthly subscribers are available.

“Zipcar offers the most comprehensive, most convenient and most flexible car-sharing options available,” they wrote in a release.
A few rules include:
- Pets must be transported in crates
- Gas tank must be kept at 1/4 full (gas card provided)
- No smoking
- Using Zipcars as taxis is prohibited
Zipcar will officially launch in Columbus on Tuesday, June 26.
