Settlement proposed for teen killed in State Fair Ride malfunction
A settlement of $1.27 million has been proposed for the young man killed in the Ohio State Fair ride accident this past summer.
With the proposal, the family of 18-year-old Tyler Jarrell would receive $19,168.98 in funeral expenses, $317,798.85 in attorney’s fees, and $63,438.98 for expenses relating to the legal case. That leaves $870,788.59 remaining, reports 10TV.
The parties involved include Jarrell’s family, the operators of the Fire Ball ride that broke apart, and two companies that inspected the ride before the accident.
“Tyler had an extremely bright future….(he) was an amazing young man- he was what every parent hopes and dreams their child will be,” read the settlement papers, per 10TV.
A hearing for approval has been set for April 18.
