State mandated deadline for medical marijuana goes up in smoke
So, here’s the deal: Medicinal marijuana is required to be available by September 8 but not one seed has been planted yet.
This Week News reports the state of Ohio has confirmed that medical cannabis, which takes eight to 16 weeks to grow, will not be ready by the state mandated deadline because none of the 25 growers will have their products ready in time.
Not only do the plants have to be fully grown for patients to have access, the cannabis will also need to be turned into edibles and other legal forms by product processors.
These processors are still awaiting licenses.

Everyone from prospective product testers to advocates for patients were skeptical of Ohio meeting the deadline so this announcement isn’t a surprise to many but nonetheless disappointing.
Ohio’s Department of Commerce conducts inspections of each of the cultivating facilities and due to weather and construction delays, only one inspection has been completed.
However, the state feels the blame should lie on the growers, not the state.
