“Stronger united,” Pizzuti parts with building, portion of collection

The chairman and CEO of Pizzuti is parting with part of his collection in an effort to spread the wealth of contemporary art.

Ron Pizzuti and his wife, Ann, recently gifted the Pizzuti Collection building at 623 N. Park Street plus 40 pieces of contemporary art from world-renown artists to the Columbus Museum of Art.

The five-year-old, 18,000-square-foot building will be transferred to the museum and the museum’s board of trustees and Executive Director will assume leadership and operations of Pizzuti’s exhibits and programs, reports Columbus Business First.

It will be called the Pizzuti Collection of the Columbus Museum of Art.

This will go into effect in January.

Exhibitions planned for the Pizzuti building through June 30, 2021 will continue as planned.

Pizzuti Collection members will receive half-price admission to the Columbus Museum of Art beginning Jan. 1, reports CBF.

ArtNews ranks the Pizzuti’s 2,000-piece collection as one of the top 200 in the world but when CBF inquired about how much the gifted 40-piece collection is worth, neither the Pizzutis nor CMA would divulge.

The rest of works will remain with the four Pizzuti children and seven grandchildren.
