Trouble getting to hospital? Uber rolls out free ride program

Going to the hospital isn’t the most enjoyable thing in the world or the most easy but at least now Uber is covering the travel expense. Now, patients can hail an Uber and their health care provider will foot the bill. The program is called Uber Health and comes after a successful trial period this past summer.

Patients can schedule rides days in advance or as little as a few hours without the need for a smartphone. Customers can orchestrate rides using text messages or via a call from a landline.

Not only will people have better access to health care—Uber’s leadership found that over 3 million Americans miss appointments due to lack of transportation—but Uber will also reach a larger audience, a large portion of which has never experience the ride-sharing service.

Uber’s competitor Lyft has also been in the free healthcare transportation service.
