T-minus two days until the brand new Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation Children’s Garden at the Franklin Park Conservatory opens its doors to the oh-so curious public.

This two-acre immersive experience will include 16 different garden galleries, hands-on exploration, and the best part: loads of unstructured play.

Just a handful of the unique experiences offered in the Children’s Garden include:

  • A hammock and a human-sized birds nest, both perched high above the treetops.
  • Nine different local art installations including a welcoming Celebration Arch stained glass window piece at the Garden entrance.
  • A play garden where children can get their hands in the dirt and actually plant raised flower beds and learn how they grow. They can return at the end of summer to harvest their hard work!
  • Sandstone Creek where kids and parents can walk barefoot through the nature exhibit identifying animal tracks and fossils.

“Our work at The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation has allowed us to see firsthand the magical moments that happen when children connect with nature in a hands-on way,” said Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation President Jim King. “This Children’s Garden is truly a remarkable and beautiful outdoor space, unlike any other in the country and thoughtfully designed to engage children with the natural world

A brief opening ceremony will take place on May 19, beginning at 9:30 a.m., before the Children’s Garden gates open and the adventures begin!
