The Columbus Zoo has elephant in the room, literally

Two bundles of news have arrived at the Columbus Zoo!

The animal care staff has determined that the elephant calf born on Thursday, December 6 is a girl!

You—yes, you—will have the opportunity to name the baby by voting for their favorite name choice from a list provided by one of the Zoo’s longtime supporters. More details coming soon.

The second elephant in the room that we need to address is that this little baby girl is literally out in a room on public display!

From 3-6 p.m., the calf and her mom will be spending time in the elephant community room in the Vanishing Giants building located in the Zoo’s Asia Quest Building.

Guests interested in seeing the mama and her calf are encouraged to arrive early to have the best chance at seeing her.
