Last night, the City of Worthington was illuminated with thousands of tiny light bulbs and filled with hundreds of voices singing to raise the spirits of the community’s beloved friend, neighbor, and former meteorologist.

Chris Bradley was honored at the Worthington Christmas Tree Lighting—an event he used to host—following the announcement that he would be moved to hospice care as he battles Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

“It’s appropriate that Chris is a weatherman because he is the definition of sunshine,” said the event organizer as she kicked off the tree lighting, per 10TV. “The Worthington community sends you love and sunshine in this dark time.”

After the tree was lit, the crowd began to sing the chorus of “You are my Sunshine,” but changed a line of the song to “You’ll never know Chris how much we love you.”

Then, several hundreds carolers gathered in Chris’s front yard to sing as he and his family sang along from inside.

“I didn’t know how many people were going to be here. I was so surprised,” Chris told 10TV. “It was overwhelming. And it showed such great gratitude from our neighborhood to other people. I’m just humbled. Really, I’m humbled.”
