Broke Ohio: 8/10 most popular jobs don’t pay enough to cover rent

According to a recent report, only two out of the 10 most common jobs in Ohio pay enough for an employee to afford a modest apartment.

This Week News reports the average Ohio renter earns $13.32 an hour.

The National Low Income Housing Coalition and the Coalition on Homelessness and Housing in Ohio report the hourly wage needed to afford a basic, two-bedroom apartment is $15.25.

With Columbus being the most expensive metro area, an hourly wage of about $17.50 is necessary to afford modest housing.
