Food Truck Friday: Street Thyme at Little Rock Bar

Welcome to Food Truck Friday, where, believe it or not, we give you the skinny about a great food truck that regularly sets up camp at a cool location.

Columbus is far from lacking in the mobile grub department but sometime we need a little direction outside of the ol’ standby Thursday Food Trucks at the Commons.

And other times you need your truck food paired with an ice cold adult beverage.

Next stop: The Little Rock Bar for Street Thyme’s craft burgers.

Street Thyme

Burgers is the name of the game Street Thyme, an environmentally conscious truck that likes to keep the focus on keeping things local. How local? For starters, all of their beef is prepped at Carfagna’s, a North End Italian Grocery that has been in operation since 1937.

This locally procured beef gets turned into patties and served in their selection of gourmet, craft burgers. Many of the choices sounded delicious (Apple Bacon Brie, Cajun Flame, Basic Betty) I decided to try the PB & Jae – two patties topped with bacon, American cheese, peanut butter and house made Jalapeno Jelly.

The peanut butter and bacon combination nailed the rich and salty portion of the burger and the jelly, which turned out to be both sweet AND spicy, completed the other flavors like, well…peanut butter and jelly.

The fries were crispy, salty and fresh, but due to the size of the burger, I was unable to finish them. First world problems, I know.

My advice is to still get fries, but split them with a friend.

Street Thyme also offers a few options for herbivores, such as a veggie burger, grilled cheese and vegan tacos as well as truck made milkshakes. Go ahead and order a vanilla milkshake and throw in a shot of bourbon.

I’m not going to judge.

Little Rock Bar

Little Rock, an Italian Village player since 2013, presents a lot of opportunities for a fun evening. Looking for a Rooftop Patio?

Done.

How about live band Karaoke? Check. An open mic night for local comedians? Handled. A neighborhood joint to take your pet pooch after a long summer walk?

Woof. Little Rock even has dance parties.

Little Rock offers 24 handles, with many being local, along with a wide selection of cans and bottles and top shelf bourbons, ryes, whiskeys and tequila. Looking for something to cool you off?

Refresh yourself with any of the house made ‘Rocktails’ while you peruse the Rock Memorabilia filled walls.

Did I mention something about a rooftop patio? Oh yeah, Little Rock opened theirs last year and like everything else there, the space is quirky, quaint, comfortable and welcome to people from all walks of life.

Don’t believe me?

Take your pet pooch upstairs and start a conversation with a local. You will probably become a regular.

Seriously, this Food Truck Friday has something for everyone – vegans, vegetarians, carnivores, aspiring comedians, karaoke stars and a great view of an awesome neighborhood. Get out there and support local!

*Little Rock Bar is located at 944 N 4th Street and Street Thyme Food Truck is available Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6PM – 10PM and Fridays from 6PM – Midnight.
