Fall Road Trip: Ohio’s Scarecrow Capital just 25 minutes from Columbus

Regina Fox

Franklin County’s neighbor to the southeast is going to be completely bird-less this autumn after being deemed the Scarecrow Capital of Ohio. But, what they’ll lack in fowl, they’ll more than make up for in visitors eager to embrace seasonal festivities.

A short 25-minute drive to Fairfield County will take you to the first-ever, county-wide Trail of Scarecrows, spanning through two cities and seven villages. Over 160 humanoid fall figures decorate front lawns and populate business fronts throughout Fairfield County, bringing the joys of the autumn harvest to all who visit.

But, there can only be one winner.

One scarecrow in each community will be crowned a “People’s Choice” award of $50 plus bragging rights as the best scarecrow in the Scarecrow Capital.

The Trail of Scarecrows officially kicks off October 1 and runs through October 31.
