4 of the hottest ways to stay cool this weekend

You all know it’s going to be hot this weekend, but what you may not know is that there are so many cool ways to stay cool.

Keep the good times rolling while keeping that body temp at a safe level with these four activities!

Local Pools

So, leave your layers and insecurities at home, because it’s time to give the pool whatever body you’ve got! We’ve put together a list of 30 pools around central Ohio, most of which you can get into for free since Mayor Ginther waved the $1 entree fee! Some even have lazy rivers! Check ’em out here.

Splashpads

Splashpads: Free and fun water spraygrounds without the worry of deep bottoms or high dives. We don’t know about you but to us, that seems like a home run, nay, grand slam. This summer, diversify your cool down routine by hanging at one of Columbus’ 10 exciting splashpads.

Ice Cream Crawl

One ice cream cone is good, four ice cream cones are better. Get your exercise in while cooling off on this 1.4-mile strip of Hilliard packed full of ice cream stands like Diamonds, Dairy Queen, The Little Ice Cream Shoppe, and Whit’s. Map out your journey here.

Columbus Public Health is also suggesting ways to stay healthy and safe in hot weather:

  • Drink plenty of water — do not wait until you are thirsty.
  • Stay inside in air conditioning whenever possible. If you do not have an air conditioner, use movie theaters, malls, libraries and other public places that are cool.
  • Avoid beverages with alcohol, caffeine and sugar because they will dehydrate you.
  • Eat light meals
  • Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and a hat.
  • Stay in the shade.
  • Limit your outdoor activity to morning and evening hours.
