5 Pumpkin Patches to put a smile on your gourd

Carved, spiced, or baked into a pie—however you enjoy it, Fall belongs to the pumpkins. Though inclement weather earlier this year may affect prices and quantity of our favorite orange crop, that’s no reason to avoid patronizing local growers or pass on the perfect porch decoration.

Here are five of our top picks for the best places in town to get your pumpkin picking on.

Hoffman’s Farm Market | 800 Hilliard-Rome Road, Columbus

The site of many a school field trip for the children of Hilliard and beyond, Hoffman farms is a can’t miss for their top-notch hay rides and famous wiener roasts. It’s also a pretty dang good spot to pick a pumpkin. Reach Hoffman’s Farm Market by phone at 614-878-5161, or on Facebook.

Kuhlwein’s Farm Market & Deli | 1859 Walker Rd Hilliard

With mazes of both corn and hay bale variety, you could get lost for hours at Kuhlwein’s. This farm market is a great place to grab a gourd for carving, and also serves those who prefer their pumpkin in pie form. Visit them on Facebook, or call (614) 876-2833.

Hours: Kuhlwein’s is closed on Wednesday, and open from 10am to 6pm every other day—except Saturday, when they close at 5pm.

Leeds Pumpkin Farm | 8738 Marysville Road, Ostrander

Our animal friends are the main attraction at Delaware’s Leeds Pumpkin Farm—aside from the pumpkins, of course. Along with the usual Fall attractions, visitors can enjoy cow train rides, pig races, and a goat walk.
